1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms govern installation and operation of PrismaBot, a self-hosted Twitch and Discord bot and community-operations platform. By installing, configuring, or operating PrismaBot, you agree to follow these Terms.
These Terms govern operation of the software. A separate license supplied with PrismaBot, if any, controls copying, modification, and distribution of source code or binaries. These Terms do not replace the terms of Discord, Twitch, YouTube, or another connected provider.
2. Self-hosted model
PrismaBot is installed on infrastructure chosen and controlled by the instance operator. PrismaBot does not provide a centrally hosted bot service, account system, data store, telemetry service, licensing server, or uptime commitment for independent installations.
The operator is responsible for the server, network, database, credentials, configuration, availability, updates, costs, and people allowed to access the administration interface. Separate Discord servers and Twitch channels may be managed as isolated workspaces within one installation.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must meet the minimum-age and legal-capacity requirements of every connected platform. If you operate PrismaBot for an organization or community, you confirm that you have authority to configure the bot and accept these Terms on its behalf.
You may connect PrismaBot only to servers, channels, accounts, applications, and infrastructure that you own or are authorized to administer.
4. Platform accounts and credentials
The operator supplies and controls its own Discord application, Twitch application, OAuth grants, bot tokens, API keys, webhook addresses, and other provider credentials. Credentials must not be shared with unauthorized people or committed to public repositories.
The operator must comply with all applicable platform rules, including the Discord Terms of Service, Discord Developer Terms, Twitch Terms of Service, Twitch Developer Services Agreement, and any terms governing other enabled providers.
Only permissions needed for currently enabled features should be requested. Platform access, APIs, rate limits, scopes, and features may change or be revoked by their providers.
5. Acceptable use
You may use PrismaBot for lawful community management, streaming operations, moderation, notifications, overlays, schedules, commands, and other supported features. You must not use or configure PrismaBot to:
- violate applicable law, platform rules, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, or the rights of another person;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against, defraud, impersonate, or unlawfully monitor people;
- send spam, deceptive messages, unauthorized advertising, or unsolicited direct messages;
- collect passwords, session tokens, financial information, health information, or other sensitive data outside an expressly supported and lawful feature;
- scrape platforms, evade safety controls, bypass rate limits, circumvent access restrictions, or interfere with another service;
- distribute malware, exploit code, illegal material, or content that the operator is not authorized to use;
- misrepresent PrismaBot as an official Discord, Twitch, YouTube, or other third-party product; or
- operate the bot without the notices, permissions, consent, or human oversight required for the selected features.
6. Instance-operator responsibilities
The instance operator determines how PrismaBot is configured and is responsible for its behavior. The operator must:
- keep the host, dependencies, PrismaBot version, and connected applications reasonably secure and current;
- limit administrative access and workspace permissions to authorized people;
- review commands, moderation actions, notification destinations, schedules, custom APIs, uploaded media, and automation before enabling them;
- provide community members with any privacy notice, rules, consent mechanism, or deletion process required by law or platform policy;
- retain data only as long as necessary and respond to valid access, correction, objection, and deletion requests;
- monitor for errors or misuse and respond appropriately to security incidents; and
- ensure modifications, plugins, imported components, feeds, and custom code are trustworthy and lawful.
7. Data, content, and privacy
All data processed by an independent PrismaBot installation remains under the instance operator's control. The PrismaBot project does not receive or have access to that data. The operator is responsible for determining a lawful basis, configuring retention, protecting stored information, and handling user requests.
Users and operators remain responsible for messages, commands, media, overlays, schedules, custom responses, rules, and other content they provide. You must have the rights and permissions necessary to process, display, modify, or redistribute that content.

8. Moderation and automated actions
PrismaBot can execute commands and rules automatically, including role changes, content filtering, notifications, scheduled posts, giveaways, polls, reward actions, and moderation actions. The operator is responsible for testing those rules and reviewing their results.
Do not use PrismaBot as the sole decision-maker for employment, housing, credit, insurance, legal rights, access to essential services, or other decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Communities should provide a practical way for people to report and appeal incorrect automated actions.
9. Security, maintenance, and backups
The operator is responsible for host security, firewall and tunnel configuration, secret storage, encryption keys, updates, log access, backups, disaster recovery, and deletion from backups. Exposing the administration interface or credentials can allow unauthorized control of connected communities.
PrismaBot may include tools that help isolate workspaces or protect secrets, but these do not replace secure operation of the underlying system.
10. Third-party services
PrismaBot depends on services that are not controlled by the PrismaBot project. Their APIs, availability, pricing, rate limits, data practices, authentication systems, or terms may change without notice and may cause a feature to stop working.
Links, names, and integrations do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or ownership by Discord, Twitch, YouTube, or another provider. Each provider remains responsible for its own service.
11. Pre-release status and availability
PrismaBot is in active pre-release development and is currently planned for Q4 2027. Features, interfaces, storage formats, compatibility, and release timing may change. Test installations should be treated as non-production unless a release is expressly identified as production-ready.
Because the software is self-hosted, the PrismaBot project does not provide an uptime guarantee, service-level agreement, guaranteed support response, or guarantee that every third-party integration will remain available.
12. Project and third-party rights
PrismaBot's name, logo, website design, documentation, and original project materials remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Any separate software license identifies the permissions granted for source code and binaries.
Discord, Twitch, YouTube, and other names, marks, APIs, and content belong to their respective owners. You may not remove required notices or imply an affiliation that does not exist.
13. Warranty and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PrismaBot is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, compatibility, error-free operation, or preservation of data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the PrismaBot project and its contributors are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for lost data, revenue, reputation, platform access, or community access arising from installation or operation of the software.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Ending use
You may stop using PrismaBot by shutting down and uninstalling the software, removing it from connected communities, revoking platform credentials, and deleting locally stored data according to your legal and operational obligations.
Discord, Twitch, or another provider may independently limit or terminate API access. When platform access ends, the operator must stop using affected credentials and delete platform data when required by that provider's terms.
15. Changes and general terms
These Terms may be updated as PrismaBot develops. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Continuing to operate a later release after updated Terms are made available constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. Applicable mandatory law and any controlling terms in a separate written agreement remain unaffected.
